Jane Lewis

Jane Lewis has a longstanding career in social policy research, and more recently in research utilisation.  She was Director of Research in Practice until May 2011, running the UK's leading research utilisation initiative in children's services.  It delivered a programme of support for local authorities and voluntary sector organisations encompassing research reviews, conferences, workshops, development projects, collaborative research, e-learning and evaluation support.  

Before that she was Director of the NCB Research Centre, leading a programme of research and evaluation for central and local government, voluntary sector organisations and research councils and foundations.  She was previously Director of the Qualitative Research Unit at NatCen, the UK's leading independent social policy research institute.

She is co-editor of Qualitative Research Practice, an Academician of the Social Sciences, and author of extensive publications across the fields of children and families, social policy and research and evaluation methods.
